Three intensive regional sessions to offer information, tools, and strategies while providing forum for questions and sharing best practices
ATLANTA, GA – December 15, 2016 – The Strategic Financial Alliance (“SFA”), a leading, privately owned independent broker-dealer and Registered Investment Adviser (RIA), today announced that it has begun to convene three intensive, two-day regional seminars to prepare its affiliated independent financial advisors for the implementation of the Department of Labor’s fiduciary rule.
The first of the training seminars took place December 1–2, 2016, in Washington, DC. The others will take place December 13–14, 2016, in Atlanta, and January 25–26, 2017, in San Francisco .
Clive Slovin, President and CEO of SFA, said, “While we recognize that there is potential uncertainty regarding the future of the DOL's fiduciary rule due to the outcome of the recent U.S. Presidential Election, the fact remains that this rule is slated for implementation in April, and in its current form, will undoubtedly have a major impact on independent financial advisors across the country . Whether or not the rule changes, the discussions and issues associated with this rule – no matter its final form – are still highly relevant and important. SFA is committed to helping our financial advisors prepare for future industry changes, and this training program will not only help them operate their businesses with minimal disruption within a fast-changing regulatory environment, but will also enable them to further demonstrate the value they bring to clients and enhance their level of service.”
The training sessions are being led by members of SFA’s home office staff, as well as by external product sponsors and industry experts. Covering a wide range of related issues from a variety of perspectives, the sessions will educate financial advisors on how new fiduciary rules would impact their businesses and will provide them with information, tools, and strategies they need to successfully navigate the new landscape. The seminars also provide an opportunity for financial advisors to ask questions, share experiences, and trade best practices among peers.
Mark Cooke of Heritage Financial, LLC, said, “We are grateful that SFA is providing this practical learning opportunity so that we may meet head-on the requirements of any new regulatory environment . We appreciate the care and support that we receive from SFA in helping us not just meet professional standards but incorporate industry best practices and innovative products to serve our clients with a broad platform of wealth management services and solutions.”
The training sessions will also provide CFP-certified advisors with six (6) credit hours towards meeting their continuing education requirements.
